It’s only fitting that Dennis Muchmore is the cover boy for the launch of Domemagazine.com. It’s full circle — or more correctly, a new circle — for him and for the magazine.
Dennis graced the cover of the premiere issue of michigan lobbyist magazine back in Spring 2003. At the top of his game back then, his news was that he was leaving the multi-client lobbying profession to start a new venture as an executive headhunter. The article provided his frank discussion of the state of lobbying, elected officials and his own career.
Now Dennis is back in the field, this time leading the once-powerful Michigan United Conservation Clubs. Our new story explores whether this avid sportsman and legislative vote gatherer will get MUCC back in the hunt — and why he’s doing it.
Dennis is back all right, and so is the magazine.
Dome’s mission is to give you a better understanding of what’s going on in Michigan when it comes to influencing and making public policy. The normal news fare of press conferences, speeches and legislative votes is only a small part of the fuller story. This larger story includes the persuaders, personalities, relationships and forces at work, be they in or far from Lansing. And we want to show and tell you what’s going on in a colorful, stylish way that can enlighten, even entertain.
In launching Dome, our goal was to restructure michigan lobbyist magazine in a way that it would come back bigger, better, broader in scope, less expensive and more frequent. Bigger-Better-Broader became our mantra. We didn’t expect to end up online. But as the advantages — to readers, writers and advertisers — of producing a quality online magazine became clear, we wondered why we didn’t do it this way from the start.
As Dome moves beyond the launch stage, we’ll add more features and writers and services that we hope you’ll enjoy. As we see it, the potential is virtually unlimited (pun intended).
Welcome back, Dennis. Welcome, Dome.
