I'd like to offer a glimmer of hope, albeit a small one: I, like many of my peers, left the state after graduating from college. After 4 years in California, I've returned home to open up a business in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my business partner (who himself returned from Denver, CO). We just launched http://www.TheMittenState.com. ...And we're giving a portion of our profit to local charities. The concept is to set one up for each city in Michigan.
